Daily Easter Devotion Wednesday, May 7

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 – Psalm 9; Exodus 19:16-25; Colossians 1:15-23 and Matthew 3:13-17

Colossians 1:15-23 – 15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers – all things have been created through him and for him. 17He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. 19For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

As I read this passage from Colossians the opening words to the gospel of John came to mind.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. (John 1:1-3a)

Everything that has been, is and will be came into being through the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Not one thing came into being without God. This includes you and me.

What does it mean to you that everything that is came into being through God? What does it mean to you that God created you? Created you to be a blessing unto Him and to live a purposeful life with Him.

Today sense how all that is came into being through God. Today sense God’s creative powers being at work even within you.

Psalm 9 – 1   I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2   I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

O God, as I listen to all the birds singing, as I hear thunder in the distance, I give thanks to You for the gift of life, gift of salvation, gift of grace. You created all that is and through Your Son, Jesus You have reclaimed all that is for Your holy purposes and this includes me. May I seek to love You, serve You and glory You throughout this day, throughout the rest of my life. Amen.
