Daily Easter Devotion Friday, April 25

Friday, April 25, 2014 – Psalm 96; Exodus 13:1-2, 11-16; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58 and Luke 24:1-12

I have a funeral today for a man who was 99. He lived a full life. I give thanks for the opportunity to share the good news of the gospel. One of the texts that I’ll be sharing is the following.

1 Corinthians 15:51-58 – 54When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks be to God for the gift of His Son rising from the dead. This shows that God does have power over life and death.

Today, simply rejoice in the fact of Jesus’ resurrection and how you can trust in Him for life now and life forever more.

Luke 24:1-12 – 5The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. 6Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”

Psalm 96 – 7Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
8Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9Worship the LORD in holy splendor;

O God, I give thanks for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ; His life, His teachings, His healing the sick, His dying and yes maybe most importantly His rising from the dead. May I share this gift today as I celebrate the life and faith of one who fully lived and now has died only to rise again in Your holy kingdom. Amen.
