Daily Lenten Devotion Wednesday, March 26

Wednesday, March 26, 2014 – Psalm 147:1-11; Genesis 45:16-28; 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 and Mark 6:13-29

Today I find myself asking for God’s blessings on three things going on within the life and witness of Community Presbyterian Church. I’ll begin with the last first.

I’ve been leading a Lenten study on Wednesday evenings and I’d ask for God’s blessings on these that each may be a help to the participants and that this may lead to other small group gatherings in the future. I really find small groups to be where members and friends can connect to God and one another. So, I ask God to bless this group and ones to follow.

Secondly, from 11 – 1:30 today we’re going to hold an open house to show off the renovations done to our fellowship hall area and the wonderful paintings one of our members has done. You can view the paintings on the church’s website: www.compresby.org. They are beautiful and really brings God’s creation into the fellowship hall. May God bless this gathering and guide many people in and around Forsyth to come and may God bless the paintings that they help people experience God through art.

The thirdly, at 10 am this morning I’ll be interviewed by KOLR 10 news. They are interviewing me because a member of the church nominated me to be a Hometown Hero and now they want to meet this person named Dennis Winzenried. I have to say I’m honored and shocked. I’ve looked at other nominees and many are deserving. I think they choose one to focus on each week. This is my week. My hope in this is that God add His blessing to this honor and that God be glorified. I’ll let you know when they will air the piece on me or the link to view it online. I’m still taking in that they will be interviewing me as a Hometown Hero.

The reason I share all this today, is that one of my hopes is that each of us would lift up life events to God that you want God to bless. In blessing them it is our hope that God would use them to be a blessing unto Him and others.

Thanks be to God for life events that can lead us into a deeper relationship with God.

Psalm 147:1-11 – 1   Praise the Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting. ….

7   Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;

I do have a prayer request of each of you. Austin Moore, the husband of Mackenzie’s teacher is having hip surgery at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was injured in a car accident on February 2 and now they are doing the final repairs to his hip. They will be inserting bone from a donor, so prayers also for the family of the one who donated. His surgery is early this morning. May God be with the doctors and bless all who are a part of this surgery; Austin, Krischanda, their families, doctors, nurses and staff. Following surgery may God’s healings hands continue to be upon Austin. Amen.
