Daily Lenten Devotion Saturday, March 8

Saturday, March 08, 2014 – Psalm 43; Ezekiel 39:21-29; Philippians 4:10-20 and John 17:20-26

Psalm 43 – 3   O send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling.

This could be our Lenten prayer that God send out his light and truth upon us, so that they may lead us and guide us to God’s very presence.

This Sunday in worship we’ll be hearing the text from Genesis where Adam and Eve are in the garden and God dwells with them. God sent His Son that we might be able to return unto God’s presence and know the true love God has for us.

Then in our gospel reading today we hear Jesus saying;

John 17:20-26 – 22The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, 23I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Jesus’ prayer was that God’s glory be in us and that we, Christ’s body, might be one. That sure hasn’t lived itself out yet I do see God in Christ and Christ in us when we work together in the name of Christ. The bottom line for me is our affirmation that Jesus is the Christ, savior and Lord.

When have you sensed that God was in Christ and Christ is in you? When have you sensed our oneness in Christ?

O Christ, this Lenten season may you shine your light, your love upon each of us and may your glory shine through us. We give thanks for all the gifts given unto us, given not just for us but that you might be glorified. Guide us in our living this day as we seek to glorify you. Amen.
