Daily Devotion Friday, February 28

Friday, February 28, 2014 – Psalm 88; Proverbs 8:1-21; Philemon 1-25 and John 12:9-19

Philemon 1-25 – 1Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother,
To Philemon our dear friend and co-worker, 2to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house:
3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4When I remember you in my prayers, I always thank my God 5because I hear of your love for all the saints and your faith toward the Lord Jesus. ….
25The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

If you read all of Philemon 1-25, you will have read a whole book of the Bible. This is a letter Paul wrote to Philemon, a dear friend. As I read it I thought. Today, I could write a letter to those who read my morning devotions. So, here goes.

I, Dennis, a servant of Christ Jesus, to all the saints near and far who receive this daily devotion.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I’d like to remember you by name in my prayers. Some of you, I know, for you are on my email devotions list. Others, I don’t for it goes out via the pastor’s blog. I’d also like to lift up your prayer requests before God. So, please let me know any prayer requests you may have. I’ll keep them in my personal prayer journal, unless you request I share it with others. Just so you understand, I could only share your personal prayer request not a prayer request that we pray for another. I could pray for the other, but I couldn’t share it with others. So, what is your prayer request that you’d like to share with me?

Secondly, I’d like to hear of your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Again, some of you I know well. You are part of Forsyth Community Presbyterian Church. Yet, even each of you probably could share something of your faith in Christ that would help me know you better.

You can share these things with me via my email; pastordennis@mchsi.com. Now that’s not something the Apostle Paul could do.

I do give thanks for your faith in Jesus Christ and know that God does hear our prayers and answers them. Sometimes with a yes, sometimes no or sometimes with a not yet. We don’t always understand God’s answer but this we can know, “God is for us.”

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with my spirit and your spirit.

Psalm 88 – 1   O LORD, God of my salvation,
when, at night, I cry out in your presence,
2   let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry.

O Lord, I know many who cry out to you at night. Hear their prayers. Guide them. Answer their prayers, O Lord, our God. Amen.
