Wednesday, February 26, 2014 – Psalm 65; Proverbs 6:1-19 ; 1 John 5:1-12 and John 11:45-54

In our reading from Proverbs we learn of things the Lord hates or are an abomination to him. Then in our reading from 1 John we hear how to turn from our evil ways and seek to do good, to do the Godly. Hear now God’s word to us.

Proverbs 6:1-19 – 16 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, 19 a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family.

1 John 5:1-12 – 3For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. …. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Today, and I’d hope every day, I’m going to seek to follow God’s ways, deepen my faith in God and grow closer unto God. Thus move away from the ways of the world and closer to the ways of God. I know I’ll stumble along the way. Yet even this will remind me that forgiveness is a part of God and thus God will forgive me as I ask for forgiveness ad guide me in forgiving and loving others.

O Lord, guide me in your ways of life and help me walk closer and closer with you. Amen.

Psalm 65 – 3   When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4   Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
