Daily Devotion Saturday, February 15

Saturday, February 15, 2014 –  PSALM 104; GENESIS 29:1-20; ROMANS 14:1-23 and JOHN 8:47-59

ROMANS 14:1-23 – 7We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. 8If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

What does it mean to you that as we live we are the Lord’s? What does that mean for your daily living?

For me it means that I should see God as a part of my day from my rising in the morning, throughout the day and until I lay my head down for sleep. Loving and serving God is to be my focus from beginning till the end of the day.

The second part of our reading from Romans points out that when we die, we die to the Lord and are the Lord’s. So as we believe and trust in God, we shouldn’t fear death, we should seek only to live knowing that in life and in death we are the Lord’s.

Today, seek to live fully for the Lord. That will be my goal as I go about my day.

I did get my computer back. I give thanks for the knowledge and skills computer technicians have to save all documents, scrub the hard drive and reload everything including my email address and emails.

I also ask God to curse the work of those who create virus’ that are floating around in emails. Be careful what you open and have good virus protection on your computers.

O God, may I live this day seeking to serve you and be a help to others. This is my prayer. Amen.

PSALM 1041 Bless the LORD, O my soul.
O LORD my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty,

24  O LORD, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
