Wednesday, February 12 2004 – PSALM 89:1-18; GENESIS 27:1-29; ROMANS 12:1-8 and JOHN 8:12-20

ROMANS 12:1-8 –  1I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God — what is good and acceptable and perfect.

As I hear these words from Romans, I think about how my body is composed of many parts and that each is to be dedicated to the glory of God. Especially my mind, my heart (physical and spiritual), my mouth, my whole body. No part is outside God’s realm. What I think affects what I do. What I believe in my heart guides my thoughts and actions.

Today, seek to present your whole body as a living sacrifice unto God. As I think about the sacrifice aspect of this text, I think of how the Jews had to present an unblemished lamb unto God for the sacrifice of sin. Thanks be to God that Jesus is our perfect sacrifice and that because he died for our sins we can present our body; heart, mind and soul unto God. Perfect not because of what we have done but perfect because of our Lord’s sacrifice.

JOHN 8:12-20 – 12Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

May it be Christ’s light that guides you in all your ways.

PSALM 89:1-18 – 2   I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

Thanks be to God for God’s steadfast love that has been, is and will be. Amen.

O God forgive me for all my sin. May it be the light of Christ that shines upon my whole life illuminating darkness and shining your light and love into it. Reveal to me all the places and ways that I need to turn to you, trust you and follow you. Amen.
