Daily Christmas Devotion Thursday, January 2

Thursday, January 2, 2014 – Psalm 144; 1 Kings 19:1-8; Ephesians 4:1-16 and John 6:1-14

Psalm 144 – Lord, what are human beings that you care for them,
    mere mortals that you think of them?
They are like a breath;
    their days are like a fleeting shadow.

Part your heavens, Lord, and come down;

And so God did and John 3:16-17 says it all;

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Friends, God loved us and loves us so much that he sent His Son. We may be only a breath upon this earth and our days may be like fleeting shadows, but God came that we might abide with Him forever. On this the Ninth Day of Christmas may we give thanks for what God did and what God does for us even this very day, even this New Year.

O God in the grand scheme of things even if we live to be a hundred our life is but a mere breath, yet you care for us and love us. Help us abide in your love given through your Son and dedicate ourselves to working with you in bringing your kingdom upon earth. Amen.
