Daily Devotion Saturday, December 21

Saturday, December 21, 2013 – Psalm 134; 2 Samuel 7:1-17; Titus 2:11-3:8a and Luke 1:39-48a (48b-56)

Titus 2:11-3:8a  – 4But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. 6This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8aThe saying is sure.

This morning I’d like you to imagine yourself waking up Christmas morning and under the tree is a special package for you and the whole world. It’s been sent to us by the richest, wealthiest one of all. It’s a special gift given unto you, not because of anything you have done but because the one who sent it could and did give you this precious gift. It’s given, all we have to do is open it and enjoy it.

Open the gift let it become yours and you become his.

Luke 1:39-48a (48b-56) – 46And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

Along with Mary may our soul magnify the Lord.

Thanks be to God for the gift of His Son. May we let him transform and renew us this day.

Here’s the link to the entire Gospel reading and a link to Mary’s song; the Magnificat.

I like John Talbot and appreciated all the pictures of Mary and baby Jesus. It must have been an amazing time for Mary. May our journey with our Lord be amazing as well.
