Daily Devotion Thursday, November 28 – Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 28, 2013 – Psalm 117; Zephaniah 3:1-13; 1 Peter 2:11-25 and Matthew 20:1-16

Psalm 117 – shortest chapter in the Bible.

Praise the Lord, all you nations!
Extol him, all you peoples!
For great is his steadfast love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord!

Psalm 117 is an easy one to memorize; it’s also a good one to share around our Thanksgiving Table.

Here are a few other great Psalms for Thanksgiving: Psalm 100, Psalm 107; Psalm 118; and Psalm 136.

Here is a link to Bible Gateway.com and a search I did on “give thanks”.

Zephaniah 3:1-13 – 5  The LORD within it is righteous;
he does no wrong.
Every morning he renders his judgment,
each dawn without fail;

Truly my friends God is righteous and does no wrong. Every morning God renders His judgment, each dawn without fail. God’s judgment each day is to offer up His cup of salvation and bless us with goodness and love.

This day of Thanksgiving may we thank God for all God’s blessings of the past, present and future and may we make it our practice to thank God each and every day, in the morning for a new day and at night for the blessings of each day.

By the way, be sure to wish Happy Hanukkah to all your Jewish friends. A calendrical quirk brings the first day of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving together this Thursday for the first time since 1888. Scientists say the confluence won’t occur again for another 70,000 years, give or take a millennium.

Today I give thanks to God for God’s faithfulness from the beginning of time till the end of all time. I give thanks for God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died for all our sins and rose to show he gives new life. I give thanks for God’s Spirit that abides within me and all who believe and trust in God. I give thanks …. I’ll be doing this throughout this day of Thanksgiving and every day.

God’s blessings upon your Thanksgiving gathering and celebrations, we’ll have around 75 people at the church gathered together to give thanks for one another and all the blessings of god.

Psalm 136:1-3 – O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
O give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
