Saturday, September 28, 2013 – Psalm 67; 2 Kings 11:1-20a; 1 Corinthians 7:10-24 and Matthew 6:19-24

Matthew 6:19-24 – 19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; 20but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Too often we value the things of this earth, the things of life and forget that our ultimate treasure is in God and what God has done, is doing and will do for and with us.

The opening words to Psalm 67 says;

Psalm 67 – May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us,

My friends; God is gracious and does bless us. God’s face has and does shine upon us. Thanks be to you, O God. Amen.

Today, count your many blessings, name them one by one, and see all that God has done. The real blessings aren’t in the things we have but in the relationships we have. Our relationships with God and one another. Friends, may we all give thanks for these blessings.

O God, too often, I value the things of this world more than the relationships of life. May I put ultimate value in my relationship with you, given me through Jesus the Christ. May I also value the relationships I have with my many brothers and sisters in Christ. Each has been and is a blessing from you and thanks to you, I am a blessing from you unto them. Today, gracious God, I give thanks for the blessings of this day, the blessings of life. Amen.
