Saturday, September 21, 2013  Psalm 61; 2 Kings 2:1-18; 1 Corinthians 4:1-7 and Matthew 5:17-20

1 Corinthians 4:1-7 – 1Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. 2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. …..

7b What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?

Think of yourself as a servant of Christ and steward of God’s mysteries. Many of us look at others and see their gifts, but cannot see the gifts given unto us. Yet, each one of us has gifts from God; gifts given so that we can participate with God in the building up of His kingdom.

When thinking of stewardship we often think only of our money, our finances. Yet, God has given us much more than just our money. God has blessed us with all our talents, our abilities, our personality and yes our finances. Everything we have is a gift from God given not for our benefit alone but so others can benefit from these gifts as well.

The best way to discover the many gifts God has given us is to sit down with a close brother and sister in Christ and share with each other what gifts you see in one another. We often discount the gifts God has given unto us, yet to another they are as precious as gold, even much fine gold.

Today, focus on the fact that you are a servant of Christ and steward of God’s mysteries. How does this impact how you go about living this day – the rest of your life?

Psalm 61 – I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
For you, God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

O God, thank you for all your good gifts given unto me. May I treasure each one and not hold on to it, to them, but find ways to use them as a faithful servant would and that they be a blessing to others as well. You’ve truly blessed me. Now may these blessings, these gifts, bless others as well. Amen.
