Daily Devotion Monday, August 12

Saturday,  I asked; ““what would it look like to walk in my integrity before the Lord?”

Here’s my answer that was very similar to a couple I received. Thanks for responding to the question.

What would it mean to walk with integrity before the Lord? Love God with all my heart, my mind, my soul and my strength and to love my neighbor as I love myself. That would be first and foremost, for if I did that I would have integrity before God, self and others. May I seek to do just that.

Monday, August 12, 2013 – Psalm 27; 2 Samuel 13:23-39; Acts 20:17-38 and Mark 9:42-50

Psalm 27 – The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

I’d change it to read; The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom or what shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of what or whom shall I be afraid?

One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.

If I do as I said above; “love God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength and love my neighbor as I love myself” then I believe I will be dwelling in the house of the Lord and able to behold God’s beauty. Problem is I put my trust in things of this world instead of God. All the things of this world will pass away but God is eternal.

O God, how can you be the center of my life, my world? How can I fully love you and trust in you? Simply by doing just that; loving you and putting my full trust in you. Show me when I do not and open me up more fully to you, the Lord and Giver of all life. Amen.

As I was composing that prayer, it came to me, that one of the times I can sense my trusting and loving something else other than God is when I am fearful. So, when afraid, may I examine my fear and turn to God.
