Daily Easter Reading Friday, May 17th

Friday, May 17, 2013 – Psalm 138; Ezekiel 34:17-31; Hebrews 8:1-13; and Luke 10:38-42

Ezekiel 34:17-31 – 17As for you, my flock, thus says the Lord GOD: I shall judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats: 18Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture? When you drink of clear water, must you foul the rest with your feet? 19And must my sheep eat what you have trodden with your feet, and drink what you have fouled with your feet? ….

This reading has caused me to ask myself, what type of footprint will I be making this day? What I mean by that is; how will my use of water affect others? How will my driving about affect others? How will what I eat affect others? What I do does have an impact on others and upon me.

When I was in Boy Scouts the motto for when we were in the woods was; when you leave, leave the place in better shape than when you arrived, and leave as few footprints as possible.

Here are some of the things I try to do well and will seek to do better. Use only as much water as necessary. Turn off faucet when brushing teeth, don’t take long showers. Use soap that is bio friendly. I’m going to try to cut down on my driving, taking only necessary trips and walking where I can. I try to recycle as much paper, tin, aluminum, and glass as possible.

What are some of the things you can do today, that will help make the world a better place for others? I’d love to hear your suggestions.

I’m sure there are many things I can incorporate into my daily life, that you may already be doing.

O God, thank you for this place called Earth, our home away from home. Help us treat it more kindly and befriend it. Thank you for the air we breathe, may it be cleaner in years to come. Thank you for the water we drink, bath with and use to flush our waste. Help us find ways to keep waterways near us clean. And thank you for earth may we only leave what is necessary behind in the local land fill. May what we do here have an impact around the world. Amen.
