Daily Easter Devotion Monday, April 22nd

Monday, April 22, 2013 – Psalm 115; Jeremiah 30:1-9; Colossians 1:1-14 and Luke 6:1-11

Psalm 115 –    Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness. …..
3   Our God is in the heavens;
he does whatever he pleases. ….
13  he will bless those who fear the LORD,
both small and great. ….
18  But we will bless the LORD
from this time on and forevermore.
Praise the LORD!

One of the questions I’ve asked myself is; how can I bless God? I understand how God blesses me: with life, with food, with his Son Jesus Christ, with brothers and sisters in Christ. So, how can I bless God in return for all the blessings God gives to me?

I think we bless the Lord, as we give God thanks and praise. I believe we bless God as we seek to truly love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. I believe we bless God as we love others as God has loved us. I believe as we live for God and follow God’s ways we are a blessing unto God.

This day, seek to be a blessing unto God by loving God and seeking to follow all His ways.

This Psalm came to mind as I was getting ready to finish this devotion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name. (Psalm 103)

In looking it up, I came across this song by Matt Redman

May we bless the Lord.

O Lord, my God, I give thanks for all your blessings. I know I can’t outdo your blessing me, but I can seek to bless you by loving you and being a blessing unto others. Guide me as I seek to bless you this day. Amen.
