Daily Easter Devotion Thursday, April 18th

Thursday, April 18, 2013 – Psalm 68; Daniel 5:13-30; 1 John 5:13-20 (21) and Luke 5:1-11

Psalm 68 – 4   Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds —
his name is the LORD —
be exultant before him. ….

9   Rain in abundance, O God, you showered abroad;
you restored your heritage when it languished;
10  your flock found a dwelling in it;
in your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy. ….

19  Blessed be the Lord,
who daily bears us up;
God is our salvation.                                                                        Selah
20  Our God is a God of salvation,
and to GOD, the Lord, belongs escape from death.

As I write my morning devotion, it’s raining outside; a pretty good rain. Not sure how much but it’s coming down pretty nicely now and has been for quite a while.

While I was away at Ghost Ranch everything here went from bear limbs to new green leaves. The Forsythia had already blossomed and Red Bud Trees were showing red but when I got back the Red Bud Trees were in full bloom and Dog Woods were just blossoming and on top of that my grass had grown. I’m going to have to do my first mowing this weekend.

I give thanks to God for the rain for it is what will bring vegetables to our tables and food in abundance.

Today, I give thanks for how God provides for us and showers his blessings upon us.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up, God our savior.

Today, give thanks for all the blessings God sends your way. Give thanks for the abundant love God pours out upon you.

O God, thanks for the rain and thanks for each and every blessing you send our way. Especially I thank you for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who promised us and gives us abundant life. Amen.

The reading from Luke 5:1-11 is a great one for in it we hear how Jesus gave and promises us abundance as we follow him.
