Daily Easter Devotion Friday, April 12th

Friday, April 12, 2013 – Psalm 148; Daniel 3:1-18; 1 John 3:1-10 and Luke 3:15-22

Psalm 148 – 1   Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights!

9   Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
10  Wild animals and all cattle,
creeping things and flying birds!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here at Ghost Ranch; sun shining, little wind, great day for a hike. K.O., and a new friend Paul and I made the trek up to the top of Kitchen Mesa. It’s the mesa directly behind the dining hall.

Here is a description of the hike. Kitchen Mesa:
Entrada cliffs above the Dining Hall – The marked trail begins just past the chain across the road at Long House (see Box Canyon guide). The trail goes behind Kitchen Mesa before it ascends to the top. This more difficult hike includes a 15-foot chimney through a cleft in the cliff. The 3-4 hour trip climbs from 6,500 to 7,100 feet. (Round trip — 5 miles)

It was a wonderful hike, challenging, and I used muscles I hadn’t used in years. Here is a picture of Kitchen Mesa and then one of K.O. taking a picture from the top of the mesa.

 For me the mountains and hills really proclaim God’s grandeur, God’s majesty over all creation. It’s where I first sensed God and it is still where I can go and sense that God is God of all creation.

I enjoyed my day, was a good day for being in God’s presence in his creation.

Where did you first experience God’s presence, God’s majesty?

Praise the Lord! Give praise to God who is the God over all creation and is the God of Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection.

O God, thank you for muscles and joints that still work well after all these years. Thanks for creating the mountains, the lakes, the streams, the valleys, the plains, the Ozark’s. Thanks for creating all the different aspects of all your creation. Praise be to you O God, who was, who is and who will always be. Amen.
