Daily Easter Devotion Saturday, April 6th

Saturday, April 6, 2013 – Psalm 92; Isaiah 25:1-9; Acts 4:13-21 (22-31) and John 16:16-33

Psalm 92 – 1   It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
2   to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night, …

4   For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

5   How great are your works, O LORD!
Your thoughts are very deep! …

12  The righteous flourish like the palm tree,
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13  They are planted in the house of the LORD;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14  In old age they still produce fruit;
they are always green and full of sap,
15  showing that the LORD is upright;
he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Today here are some things I am thankful for:

A mom and dad that gave me life and nurtured me through my early years of life;

For an older brother who has always been there for me and a younger sister who was and is a real joy to call my sister;

For an education that began even before my school years began and continues on even to this day;

For a congregation/a church that nurtured my faith and trust in God who loves me and gave me life;

For Phyllis who loves me and has and does believe in me and helps me know the good I do in the community and in helping others;

For my sons who continue to be real joys in my life, even as they deal with their own life struggles – they are both special in my sight;

For each of the churches I have served in the past and Community Presbyterian Church, Forsyth, MO where I presently serve God; each has been special and helped me grow in my service to God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

For Mackenzie my granddaughter, I enjoy her and enjoy watching her grow day by day;

For this special day that marks my birth; 60 years ago I was born in Fort Collins, Colorado to Lam and Audrie Winzenried.

I’ve now lived 21,915 days. Wow! To some, I am entering my senior years; to others I am still young, I sense I am old as I want to believe that I am. I’ve had a lot of life experiences. I give thanks for each one and I believe I have a lot of life still to live.

Today, I’ll be giving thanks for my birth, my life and all the life I’ve yet to live. I will be especially giving thanks to God who has abided with me through all travels over the peaks, the plains and the valleys of life.

O God, thanks for this day of my birth, may your Spirit continue to birth new life within me this day and throughout my life. Amen.
