Daily Lenten Devotion Tuesday, March 12th

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 – Psalm 91; Jeremiah 17:19-27; Romans 7:13-25 and John 6:16-27

Psalm 91 – 1   You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
2   will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.”

I’m away attending a stewardship conference in St. Louis, MO. I’ve attended in the past and find it helpful to be reminded that God has given us life and we are simply stewards of all that God gives unto us. Here’s some of the tidbits I’ve gotten so far;

“Stewardship is the meaning of life.”

“We are most like God when we give.” I thought of John 3:16 when Michael Jenkins the opening speaker shared this. “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son. .,….”

“Coping with God and God’s generosity is the central challenge of the Christian life.”

“To be God-like is to be like God – a giver.”

“We are blessed to be a blessing!”

Friends, God has given us life and all the challenges and blessings of it. Passing on to others and returning unto God, God’s blessings should be our goal each and every day.

What do you feel called to give back unto God this day?

My answer to that question is an attentive mind, heart and soul.

I ask for your prayers for the Jones’ a couple back home who has been married for over 78 years. Valentine the wife is not doing well. She and Johnie her husband need our prayers. Prayers also for their only daughter Pat. I give thanks for Phyllis and John who called on them yesterday and the prayers they had with them.

O Lord, thank you for this day which you did not promise us, yet are giving to us. May we use this day to glorify you and show you our love. Be with the Jones’ and others who are going through troubling times, may your body, the Body of Christ, be present to them through all who call upon them and care for them this day. Amen.
