Daily Lenten Devotion Saturday, March 2nd

Saturday, March 2, 2013 – Psalm 31; Jeremiah 5:20-31; Romans 3:19-31 and John 7:1-13

Psalm 31 – 19  O how abundant is your goodness
that you have laid up for those who fear you,
and accomplished for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of everyone! …

23  Love the LORD, all you his saints.
The LORD preserves the faithful,
but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily.
24  Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the LORD.

Today, I want us to focus upon God’s abundant goodness. There is a saying that goes; “God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.” Thanks be to God that that is just what God is, good. God’s abundant goodness is fully shown through his sending of His Son, who came to show God’s goodness.

Romans 3:19-31 – 22b For there is no distinction, 23since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; 24they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by his blood, effective through faith.

The song “Amazing Grace” comes to mind. What amazing love and grace God has shown us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus the Christ, we are justified and given new life.

Focus your mind upon God’s abundant goodness and amazing love poured out upon you this day.

Here’s a nice version of Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin.

O God, thank you for your abundant love and mercy, and your amazing grace that has set me free. Amen.
