Daily Lenten Devotion Tuesday, February 26th

Tuesday, February 26, 2013 – Psalm 34; Jeremiah 2:1-13, 29-32; Romans 1:16-25 and John 4:43-54

Psalm 34 – 8   O taste and see that the LORD is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him. …..

12  Which of you desires life,
and covets many days to enjoy good?
13  Keep your tongue from evil,
and your lips from speaking deceit.
14  Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it.

Jeremiah 2:1-13, 29-32 – 11  Has a nation changed its gods,
even though they are no gods?
But my people have changed their glory
for something that does not profit.

Romans 1:16-25 – 6For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith,

In the Psalm we are asked; “which of you desires life?” I believe the answer would be all of us, each one of us. Yet, we do that which people have done before us, sought out life in all the wrong places or things. In Jeremiah we hear how the people exchanged life (loving God and following God’s commandments) for something that does not profit (foreign/false gods). My friends we are no different, we put our trust in things that do not profit, do not lead to real life. What are we to do?

Trust and believe in the one who came to offer real life unto all.

Like Paul, I am not ashamed of the gospel (the good news of Jesus Christ); for it is the power of God for salvation (real life) to everyone who has faith.

So, my friends trust and believe in Jesus who came to save us from all our sins and give us real life.

O Lord Jesus, as I continue this journey through Lent, this journey to the cross, may you reveal to me my continuing sin which keeps me from fully loving and trusting in you. Teach me your ways and thanks for continuing to reveal to me your salvation which is offered to all. Amen.
