Monday, January 28, 2013 – Psalm 57; Isaiah 48:1-11; Galatians 1:1-17 and Mark 5:21-43

Psalm 57 – 1   Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
until the destroying storms pass by. …

3   He will send from heaven and save me,
he will put to shame those who trample on me.
Selah
God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.

In reading these words from Psalm 57, what occurred to me is; God has been merciful to me, to us for he sent his Son to save us. In Him we can take refuge under the shadow of his wings. Thanks be to God, that God has done what he said he would do. Now may we trust in him.

When I was growing up in Fort Collins, my maternal grandparents lived just a block away. I’d go over there often to visit them. One day my grandmother looked at me and said; “Dennis; be glad that you were born in the United States and into a Christian home.” I’m not sure why she said that to me; if I was complaining about something or unhappy about my day. Not sure at all about that, but I remember well what she said to me. It has stuck with me to this day.

So, today I say to all of us; be glad that you were born under God’s grace, given through His Son, Jesus Christ. Because we live in this time, we can enjoy the benefits and responsibilities of being a child of God.

Galatians 1:1-17 – 3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,4who gave himself for our sins to set us free from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

And along with the Apostle Paul I say; Amen.
