Thursday, January 17, 2013 – Psalm 97; Isaiah 41:17-29; Ephesians 2:11-22 and Mark 2:1-12

Psalm 97 – 1   The LORD is king! Let the earth rejoice; …

9   For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods. …

12  Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name!

This morning, I’m reminded of the song and the passage of scripture that says; “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)

Last Sunday, the youth Sunday school class made blessing jars. They decorated the glass jars and then made some slips of paper to put inside. On the slips of paper the youth were to write a blessing that they received each day. Then when they needed to, they could pull out the slips of paper to review their many different blessings. Nice idea, something I think all of us could benefit from.

Today, watch for a special blessing from God that comes your way. I know one will. I know I’ll be watching for my own blessings throughout this day.

Rejoice in the Lord in the morning. Rejoice in the Lord at noon time. Rejoice in the Lord when your blessing comes your way. And rejoice in the Lord at dinner time and bed time. In other words, rejoice in the Lord, throughout your whole day.

O God, thanks for the many blessings of the past, especially the blessings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today, may I rejoice in you throughout my day, for you are the one who blesses us day in and day out. Thanks be to you, O God. Amen.
