Daily Devotion, December 25 – Christmas Day

Tuesday, December 25, 2012 – Christmas Day – Psalm 98; Zechariah 2:10-13; 1 John 4:7-16 and John 3:31-36

Psalm 98 – 1   O sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things. …..

4   Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
5   Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.
6   With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

Zechariah 2:10-13 – 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! For lo, I will come and dwell in your midst, says the LORD.

1 John 4:7-16 – 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.

John 3:31-36 – 34He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. 35The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands. 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;

My hope is that throughout Christmas Day from its beginning to its ending, you have been able to give thanks for God’s eternal gift given through the birth of His Son, Jesus who would become and is the Christ. This is my Christmas wish for us all. For without this gift, I don’t believe there would be any real reason to give all the other gifts.

Today, give thanks for the gift of God’s Son, through whom we can all find real, meaningful, purposeful life.

Merry Christmas to one and all, near and far.

O God, thank you isn’t enough, for what you did for us in sending your Son. Our lives dedicated to you and our love of you and others that is what you wanted and want even this day. So, may we show our deep appreciation of your gift by seeking to love you with all our being and love others as you love us and as we love ourselves. Amen.
