Daily Devotion Thursday, December 13th

Thursday, December 13, 2012 – Psalm 18:1-20; Isaiah 7:1-9; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 and Luke 22:1-13

Psalm 18:1-20 –1I love you, O LORD, my strength.

2The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,

my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,

my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

3I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,

so I shall be saved from my enemies.

Here is something I strive to hold on to and remember; God is my rock, my shield, my salvation, my stronghold.

We all have difficult situations come our way. We all have times when life gets really crazy. During these times I strive to focus upon God and what God has done in the past, is doing today and promises for tomorrow. Our God is a mighty God who is our rock, our refuge, our shield, our salvation (he’s shown that in the sending of His Son) and our stronghold. May we fully trust in God.

In our reading from Isaiah, this line stood out to me.

Isaiah 7:1-9 –9b If you do not stand firm in faith,
you shall not stand at all.

May we, no matter what life throws our way, stand firm in our faith in God who has shown his love for us and sent his Son, that we might be able to have a full and abiding relationship with God, now and always.

Hold onto your faith today and always.

O Lord, thanks for being our rock and our salvation. May we fully trust in thee and seek to abide with you, as you came to abide with us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
