Devotion Day 40 – Through the Bible in 90 Days

Day 40 – Psalm 25 – Psalm 45 – Here are the Psalms and verses that spoke to me.

Psalm 25: Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.

Good prayer to pray every morning as I begin my time of devotions.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation –
whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life –
of whom shall I be afraid?

11a&b Teach me your way, Lord;
lead me in a straight path

I shared Psalm 29 as the opening devotion at last night’s session meeting. I like how The Message Bible paraphrase opens this Psalm.

1-2 Bravo, God, bravo!
Gods and all angels shout, “Encore!”
In awe before the glory,
in awe before God’s visible power.
Stand at attention!
Dress your best to honor him!

Psalm 32 is a great prayer of confession.

Psalm 34:3 would be a great verse to end an installation service by the pastor as she or he addresses the congregation as their pastor.

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 40: Blessed is the one
who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.

I chuckled as I read Psalm 40: 12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.

For some people this would mean they are having lots of trouble. For me, not as many since so many hairs have fallen from my head.

Psalm 42 is one of my favorite Psalms. I really like how it opens and then the rest often speaks to me.

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?

Blessings as we continue our readings through the Psalms.
