Devotion Day 31 – Through the Bible in 90 Days

Day 31 – 1 Chronicles 24:1 – 2nd Chronicles 7:10 David’s prayer struck me as a prayer I should pray at times I don’t know what to pray. It would also be a great prayer for worship, for the dedication of our gifts. Look for it in the bulletin in the near future.

“Praise be to you, Lord,
the God of our father Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
13 Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name.

14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

Gratefulness is a great place to abide in all of life. One with a grateful heart can endure a great deal of suffering, yet still see the blessings of life. One with a grateful heart knows that when good things happen to them, they come from the very hand of God.

Here’s one of my favorite praise songs; “Give Thanks With a Thankful Heart”

Today, focus upon all the blessings God has and is pouring out upon you and then give thanks to God for these very blessings.

A blessing I’ll focus upon today is how well Phyllis’ and my son, Nathan and his wife Leslie are doing. They have their struggles, but Nathan is doing well in his work and getting promotions and he has goals to go as far as he can with this work before moving on to other type of work, and Leslie continues to work with and teach Autistic youth and then as a second job works with Autistic children helping them prepare for school. We had dinner with Nathan, Leslie and David last night. It was really good to see them and see how well they are doing. This morning I will have breakfast with Nathan.

Just as a head’s up, my devotions may be hit and miss the next few days. Phyllis and I are headed to Colorado to spend time with several family members. So, we may or may not have an internet connection. But I will post as I can, but it may not be everyday or my devotions may come one day late. We’ll see. I plan on enjoying my time away as I keep up on reading God’s word in 90 days.

Blessed day to you all. Watch for the blessings God showers upon you this day.

Lord, thanks for all the gifts you have given unto me; family, a home, a call to serve thee as a pastor, church family, colleagues in ministry, friends near and far, being born in the USA and into a loving family. For these and many other blessings I say thank you and dedicate this new day unto thee. Amen.
